Lorikeets
Lorikeets come in larger and smaller sizes depending on where in the world they originate. In the tropical regions the Lorikeets are quite large; whereas the ones that originate from Australia are smaller. Both make wonderful pets.
Lorikeets are beautiful birds that are wonderfully playful, energetic and entertaining. They will dance when they hear music keeping you very amused. When you have a lorikeet as a member of your house you will find that you and your pet will form a strong bond of love and trust.
When you have a lorikeet for a pet then you must be ready for a mess. The must have a special diet and their food consists of fruit, nectar mix and vegetables and when they eat they make a rather large mess. Their cage needs to be cleaned on a regular basis so you can be sure that your lorikeet is happy and healthy.
Due to the special feeding and nutritional requirements of a lorikeet it is advised that you do not keep a lorikeet with another genus of parrot.

Tropical lorikeets are well-known for their ability to talk. You will be thoroughly entertained when you have one that is a talker. Australian lorikeets are wonderful pets, however they are not much for talking.
When you are looking into getting a lorikeet you should make sure that when you find one that you get some background information on the bird.
You should ask where it came from, where it parents came from and even the grandparents if possible. The ideal pet will be a male bird that has been hand raised from parents that are aviary birds.
Lorikeets are wonderful birds to have. You need to make sure that have the time and space for one. You will be happy with the new addition to your household and your new exotic pet will give you many years of amusement and love!
